Pizza is officially a vegetable – at least according to congress. There was an article about 106 year old Canadian who only at pizza (and French fries) and talked about how that was her secret to longevity. Congress must have bought into the story. Pizza is very nutritious, and most would say delicious (ranking in the top of the favorite food rung of everybody I know). Pizza can be made from whole grains, giving the eater the necessary fiber. The tomatoes account for a serving of fruit. The cheese counts for a healthy dairy serving. Swap out the pepperoni and sausage for onions, garlic, basil, bell peppers and tomatoes and you have a delicious serving of vegetables added as well.
