A new study came out showing the link between obese mothers and autism. There is a 67% increase in autism if the mother has a BMI of 30 or more. If the BMI of the mother is between 28-29, the chances of autism are increased nearly the same amount. There are additional risks for development disorders also linked to overweight and obese mothers. They said that although there was a link to development disorders in mothers with high blood sugar and diabetes, there was no additional risk of autism in a mother with high blood sugar or diabetes.
